Forming in 1998, the Royal Rumble spent the next five years becoming the best kept secret in the New Zealand Christian music scene, playing everywhere from clubs and churches, to the mainstage at the Parachute Music Festival. The band plays SKA, an ancient form of music from last century(!) that is a mash of reggae and punk and love and passion and all that is good. It is a form of music that is designed to make you dance uncontrollably. There's the standard mix of guitars and drums, but they have a horn section because Ska. After 2003 they took a break, performing only once or twice a year. In the past five years, however, the gigs have increased, as has the fan base. Be very afraid. And a little excited.
